Ted Kennedy brain tumour malignant glioma, ted kennedy, parietal lobe, glioblastoma, left parietal lobe

The Americans were shocked to learn that a malignant brain tumor was the cause of Senator Ted Kennedy 's collapse of a weekend. While his doctors announced courses of treatment of chemotherapy and radiation, the tumor was identified as glioma, an aggressive form of cancer. The U.S. company for neurology said that gliomas are very harmful because they exclude rapidly in the brain. More than half the patients diagnosed with a glioma die within 18 months. The diagnosis dominated news bulletins U.S. overnight and prompted widespread tributes to the "long-serving; Lion of the Senate". President George Bush said he was deeply saddened and that he would request for Senator Kennedy. "Ted Kennedy is a man of enormous courage, strength remarkably and spirit strong. Our thoughts are with Senator Kennedy and his family during this difficult period," Mr. Bush said. One of those who hopes to succeed the president, Barack Obama, said he was shattered by the news. Senator Obama said that Senator Kennedy was a fighter and a great senator. "I do not m'assie'rais here as a presidential candidate without some battles that Ted Kennedy has fought," Senator Obama said on CNN television. "Is it not only a personal friend, but he is someone who has fought for the right to vote and civil rights when I was a child. I stand on his shoulders." ; Senator Kennedy, 76, was a figure of domination in the U.S. Senate over seven full limits. His endorsement of Senator Obama for the Democratic presidential nomination this year was a major moment in Senator Obama 's competition with Senator Hillary Clinton of New York. Senator Kennedy was the youngest brother of President John F. Kennedy, who was assassinated in 1963. A second brother, Bobby Kennedy, was assassinated in 1968 while running for the presidency. Senator Kennedy is dealt with in Boston 's General Hospital Massachusetts. Doctors have said in a report he was in good spirits and that his course of treatment had not been completed. "The preliminary results of a brain biopsy identified the cause of the seizure as malignant glioma in the left parietal lobe," they said.

Drug Name

Parlodel (Bromocriptine)

Drug Uses

Parlodel lowers prolactin levels. Prolactin is a hormone important for the production of breast milk and for normal fertility in women.

Parlodel is used to treat disorders such as amenorrhea (lack of a menstrual period), persistent breast milk production, infertility, and other conditions associated with high prolactin levels caused by prolactin-secreting tumors in women and in men.

Parlodel is also used to treat Parkinson's disease, which is associated with low levels of dopamine in the brain. Parlodel has effects similar to those of dopamine, which makes it effective in the treatment of the stiffness, tremors, spasms, and poor muscle control associated with Parkinson's disease.

How Taken

Use Parlodel as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions.

  • Take Parlodel by mouth with or without food.
  • It may be helpful to mark on a calendar which days you are supposed to take Parlodel.

Drug Class and Mechanism

Parlodel is a dopamine agonist. It works by blocking the release of prolactin from the pituitary gland and lowering growth hormone levels (in patients with acromegaly). In Parkinson disease, Parlodel works by stimulating dopamine receptors in certain parts of the brain.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose of Parlodel, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.
